Message from the Chairman

Dear Members and Supporters of BEBA,

It's been an exciting time here at BEBA, full of many events and activities. As Egypt's economy develops, it becomes increasingly important to ensure that this development goes in the right direction, on a sustainable track that benefits all Egyptians. It is also important that we stay involved with the global business community, showing our successes to the world while learning as much as we can from them.

Recently, we have pursued these goals in both Egypt and the

UK. We proudly hosted events for Minister of Social Welfare

H.E. Dr. Aly El Meselhy, Minister of Tourism H.E. Zoheir Garranah, and Chairman of the Capital Market Authority Mr. Hany Sarei El Din, in which they unveiled their plans to improve Egypt’s economy and described opportunities for the business community and government to work together.

We organized a tour of Unilever's Mashreq factory, learning many lessons about increasing productivity by improving and investing in the working environment. And most recently, we co-sponsored The Economist's Fourth Business Roundtable with the Government of Egypt, an intense day of face-to-face discussions with Egypt’s political and business leadership.

We have also participated in two major events in London. Euromoney and our partners at the EBCC organized the "Egypt: Investing in Reform" conference, featuring a high-profile Egyptian delegation including H.E. Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif and the Ministers of Finance, Tourism, Foreign Trade, Investment, Petroleum, and Communications. We also, with Think Egypt, organized a 'Think Egypt Village' at the UK Homebuyer Show, following our work in capacity building by reaching out to eager property buyers.

In the coming months, we will resume regular committee meetings, allowing us to focus our efforts towards achieving measurable results in specific sectors of the economy. We will also be holding our Annual General Assembly Meeting, on May 10, and our Gala Night Dinner, on May 26th. Don’t forget to reserve a table!

May we continue to work together to promote greater trade between our two countries, and to make our countries more prosperous than ever.
